At a time when cabinet finishes were limited to melamine and veneers, a small family owned kitchen retailer decided to change the landscape of an entire industry. They believed the kitchen should be as unique as its owner, an extension of their own character. By experimenting with paint on MDF they were soon able to offer colours and door designs never before available. Vibrant kitchens filled with colour became the norm. Demand continued to grow and the small retailer grew rapidly. Rival companies began approaching the retailer, for they too wanted to offer this unique range of painted doors to their own clients. The cabinet door supplier was born soon thereafter.
Having run successful kitchen businesses in Durban since 1984, the Mountford family relocated to the Cape in 1997 to pursue new opportunities. Gaining competitive advantage through offering their unique range of painted finishes it was decided to re-structure the business and continue as a dedicated supplier of cabinet doors to the retail industry. Today De Montfort Doors is a 2nd generation family owned business distributing the widest range of painted cabinet finishes available. Operating from our 2500sqm production base in Cape Town we are geared to supply nationwide.

Since inception in 2019, Decor Trader has fast become one of the leading flooring distributors in Southern Africa and has earned a great reputation with clients and suppliers alike, by ensuring quality products at excellent value. The business is headed by experienced leader, Mrs Razia Kolia and her growing team of flooring experts.
Decor Trader partnered with world renowned French brand Gerflor, in distributing their products exclusively throughout Southern Africa. Gerflor prides itself on being an environmentally responsible flooring manufacturer and its production sites carry ISO14001 certification. They set the highest standards when it comes to environmental quality by using recycled materials across all product ranges and qualify for credits under many internationally accredited Green Building Schemes. They’re a group that creates, manufactures and markets solutions for flooring and interior finishes for multiple industries such as housing, healthcare facilities, education & sport centres, retail stores, office buildings & the hospitality sector. Their solutions are innovative, sustainable and decorative. Gerflor products adapt to each specific field of application, for which both parties have developed specific knowledge.
Through our strong partnership with Gerflor, we at Decor Trader, have seen significant growth in these markets which has resulted in an increase in our product portfolio. We initially started with only two products, namely Mactile a 300 x 300mm semi flexible tile and one directional vinyl sheeting, Mipolam Troplan Plus. We’ve recently expanded our product offering to include a non-directional vinyl sheet, Mipolam Atlas and Virtuo LVT, both available in 2mm and 2.5mm. We also offer anti-static vinyl sheet, Mipolam Robust EL7, also available in tiles and last but not least, safety vinyl sheet, Tarasafe. Gerflor manufactures a wide variety of products and non-stocking ranges are available on request. A key example of a non-stocking product that we’re able to bring in would be Linoleum flooring.
The Décor Trader–Gerflor relationship is growing from strength to strength, with expertise shared regularly. Stock availability and customer support are the focus of both parties and is essential for the business to expand in this competitive market.

The DNG Story
For those who are curious, DNG stands for Davey, Nikki & Gyro (our first Great Dane and honorary child).
From as early as 2003, we as a family started out doing a number of woodwork-based projects; ranging from alterations and renovations to building boats, houses and cabinetry. Gyro’s legacy lives on from those original days on site, in our logo.
The DNG team has grown since those days to include a group of skilled craftsmen and women, who work in the factory and on site. The cornerstone of family values remains at the core of every service we provide to you, and in every installation we complete.
